Get Chennai Traffic Police Updates via SMS
Chennai Traffic Police in collaboration with SMS GupShup have launched recently an SMS facility where after subscribing to it, you will start receiving updates on your mobile via SMS the various traffic updates happening in and around Chennai. You will start getting the traffic pile-up updates, normal traffic updates, any abnormal traffic happening in a particular road/roads in Chennai, etc. So that you can take an alternative route or change your path to avoid such traffic jams which has become a common thing in Chennai due to the huge number of vehicles plying on the roads these days.
How to receive Traffic Updates in Chennai?
If you would like to receive such updates on your mobile via SMS, then you will need to subscribe to the mobile alert facility offered by Chennai Traffic Police along with SMSGupShup. All you have to do is to send an SMS “JOIN CTP” to 092195 92195. Similarly if you would like to leave or unsubscribe from these traffic alerts then again send an SMS “LEAVE CTP” to 09219592195.
Join Chennai Traffic Police Online
Alternatively you can also join this Chennai Traffic Police Group via online at the SMS Gup Shup Group CTP and register with your mobile number and join this group without needing to send any SMS and similarly you can unsubscribe from it online, easily.
With this facility, after joining this group you will start receiving around 10 to 20 SMS alerts on your mobile daily usually during the peak hours in morning and evening or any important diversion or traffic snarls or traffic pile-up due to accidents, processions, etc.
Very Useful Facility
It is a very useful facility for most of us who were on the road during such peak hours or any time of the day and so that we can take necessary steps or take alternative routes after seeing such alerts in case of any traffic jam happening in a particular road, etc. This will help you save time as well as fuel.
A typical SMS would like this:
@08:36 Anna salai, Kamarajar salai, OMR rd,100ft rd, Koyambedu, Mint and Parrys corner normal traffic. -By CHN TRF POL
Hope they continue this for long term and not a very short term solution from them.
