storesondoorsEver since I saw about the following service being shown on NDTV-Hindu I was itching to try their service because it looked rather unique and new to me, i.e., buying vegetables and groceries online via Stores on Doors which is the latest online shopping portal to hit Chennaites.  Via Stores on Doors, one can now buy groceries, vegetables and fruits just by the click of their mouse rather than going to any of the super stores, neighborhood stores or shopping complexes and thereby saving a huge amount of time while doing so.  As they say saving time is like saving money and in this case it could be entirely true.

Hence I tried their service and wanted to see how it works and here is my review about storesondoors.com.  By the way this service is presently available only at Chennai, probably they will expand soon.

On the first impression, their website looks neat and easy to navigate around the pages.  There is not much fuss about the design part.  Next is the most important aspect and that is the shopping via Stores on Doors.

Categories:

Overall the shopping is categorized into three main categories namely groceries, vegetables and fruits.  All sub-categorized according to the sub sections just like you find in a super market.  Groceries are sub-categorized into several sub-sections like baby food, biscuits, dairy products, detergents, foods, fruit juices, hair care, oral care, snacks, soft drinks, soups, tea and coffee, etc.  Similarly the vegetables and fruits are displayed in an easy to go through and order manner.

Ordering Process:

You can easily add the products that you want to buy with just one click but before that you will need to select the number of product you want to buy.  Even vegetables and fruits are placed in such manner, according to their weight.  For example you can find a particular vegetable or fruit in 500 g option and if you want 1 kg, just change the number into 2 to make it 1 kg and likewise for fruits as well.

I ordered from some products from groceries, vegetables, as well as fruits to see how it works.  And once I have added enough products into my cart I decided to check out but due to various reasons I had to go off of it and had to close the storesondoors.com website thinking that I could check out later but unfortunately, the only drawback I found is that all the products I added in my cart is gone and I had to replace a new order by going through the selections all over again, this is one small drawback which I hope they will correct it when they read this or find out about it.

Otherwise I could add the products like a breeze and go through the process of placing order and checking pretty easily.  There are two options available namely paying via cash on delivery or via various methods like credit cards, etc.  Also you can place your orders via phone at the exclusive phone number 044-65158534 and get it delivered just like you would otherwise normally do at any of the regular grocery shops as well, if you find placing an order online is not feasible every time.  And pay for it when it gets delivered.

If you order products worth Rs. 500 or less you will have to incur shipping charges of Rs. 100 otherwise there is no shipping charges implied upon you which is indeed a great way to shop online (which is one major drawback, shipping charges, which I have found when shopping online) and here at Stores on Doors it is completely waived off if you shop for Rs. 500 and above.

Pricing:

The pricing of the products in groceries are according to MRP and while for the food products and others it is just like the market price and hence you don’t have to worry about being paying extra for such products when shopping online.  I also found that the price for the vegetables and fruits are very much the same as the regular market price, this I personally verified at the nearest vegetable shop in my neighborhood and even some vegetables and fruits are priced even much lower.  I also found the price of some of the groceries cheaper and there are some offers and freebies in store for certain products as well.  This makes shopping at Stores on Doors extra special, I personally felt.

You have the option of choosing the date and time of delivery when you are ordering, this will be especially good for the family in which both the husband and wife works and where there will not be anyone to get the order when it was delivered.  Hence you can pick and choose the date and time of delivery and be at home when it comes to you.  I got the product ordered on time and all came in well packed in polythene bags and thus making it look neat and well organized and there are no mix ups of fruits or vegetables or even groceries, all packed separately and cleanly.  It was delivered exactly on the date and around the time I have specified.

Quality:

The quality of vegetables and fruits that I ordered looked really good considering the sweltering weather condition that Chennai is experiencing these days, all came in fresh and good.  I personally like the quality of fruits and vegetables overall and likewise no issues with the groceries as well.

Final Points:

Overall I felt shopping at Stores on Doors a great new experience, and first time I brought vegetables and fruits online and it felt good to do something new always and it fits in well when shopping there.  The concept of Stores on Doors could be a boon for many families especially during this heavy summer months where it is too difficult to venture out even during the evening times and could prove to be a great shot in the arm for the working couples, who hardly have any time to shop for the groceries and vegetables, as well as for elderly who otherwise find it hard to go out and shop.  Also it is a must recommended site to shop online for all your groceries, fruits and vegetables and I personally recommend it.
